The Depicture of the Middle Ages in the Prokop Chocholoušek's Work

The bachelor's essay deals with the historical proses of Prokop Chocholoušek with emphasis on those of the Czech middle ages. The goal has been to find and elaborate on characteristics of the authors work and establish his place in the Czech romantic prose context. The results are posted in several chapters. The essay consists of brief biography of P. Chocholoušek, outline of changes in historical prose during the National Revival and comparison of Prokop Chocholoušek with other historical prose writers. Furthermore, it contains summary of selected texts, analysis of the character-creation patterns, ways of space-time depiction, and patriotism and educational tendencies featured in the work.
Image of Elizabeth of Bohemia (1292-1330) in chronicals and prose

The aim of this thesis is to find out image of Elizabeth of Bohemia (1292 - 1330) in chronicals and prose. The first part is about Chronicon aulae regiae and relationship between Petrus Zittaviensis and Elizabeth of Bohemia and effect of this relationship on text of Chronicon aulae regiae. The second part is about prose of the second half of the 20th century and begenning of the 21st centruy. Attention is focussed on the key scenes of the life of Elizabeth of Bohemia, their views by various authors and on the figure of Elizabeth in particular textes, on its development and characteristics. The aim of this part is to show, how is development in imaging of Elizabeth on prose from the second half of the 20th century to begenning of the 21st century.
Ideological and thematical concept of M. Matios' trilogy Cолодка Даруся. Нація. Майже ніколи не навпаки

This diploma work is devoted to the personality of contemporary Ukrainian writer Mariya Matios. Particular attention is focused on the analysis of her trilogy including Солодка Даруся, Нація and Майже ніколи не навпаки. The aim of this thesis is to explore ideological and thematic conception of novels and mechanisms used for their mediation. The introductory chapter presents a detailed analysis of the current literary process, issues of gender discourse in Ukrainian literature and characteristics of other discourses which the writer's works belong to. Based on this analysis the personality of Mariya Matios is included in the context of the current literature. The main part analyses specific topics of the trilogy and defines the specifics of author's attitude. The biggest attention is paid to the author's peculiarity in processing of historical issues, depiction of female characters and analysis of particular concepts (village people and sin) dominating in the trilogy. At the end her exceptionality and contribution to contemporary literature is evaluated.

The Reflection of White Mountain time in Czech historical Prose of 19th century

(in English): The theme of the thesis is a reflection of the White Mountain events and life in the time after White Mountain in Czech historical prose of 19th century. On selected prose works (especially proses created by Alois Jirásek) will be shown the way how Czech society perceived the White Mountain battle and its consequences. Attention will be paid to the way how the individual historical prose shaped the myth of White Mountain and what were the national and political interests and ideals or differences and the preferences of the individual authors who approached to the White Mountain theme.
Comparison of Beckovskýʼs Poselkyně starých příběhů českých with Its Source, Hájekʼs Kronika česká

The work focuses on the linguistic and graphical comparison of Poselkyně starých příběhův českých by Jan František Beckovský and its source, Kronika česká by Václav Hájek z Libočan. The aim was to confirm or disprove the still prevalent opinion that Poselkyně is only a transcription of Hájkova kronika without any changes. The first part of the work is dedicated to the lives of the two authors, to their work and also to the language and the printed texts' graphics of their time periods. In the second part of the work, several linguistic and graphical phenomena are gathered from chosen excerpts from both chronicles and compared, results are summarized with the help of tables.
Karel Slavoj Amerling as a character in the novels by Vladimír Macura

The main objective of this bachelor thesis is method Vladimír Macura used while creating his tetralogy of historical novels called Ten, který bude. As an example we choose character named Karel Slavoj Amerling, which is inspired by historical figure. We use this example and try to describe relations between documents and information gained from sources like memoirs and correspondence and novelistic fiction. Thesis also takes account of science books by Vladimír Macura, who made intense research about Karel Slavoj Amerling and issues of Czech national revival. Besides enumeration of differences and similarities, in the end this thesis leads to interpretation of the novels.

Fates Of Romantic Writers In The Belletristic Adaptation (Pfleger's "Ztracený život", Frič's "Naši předchůdci", Rüffer's "Zrádce národa")

This dissertation focus on how are processed life stories of three romantic literature authors in a 19th century fiction. The dissertation examines the novel Zrádce národa by Eduard Rüffer, where is a character named Lapin, who coppies life of a writer Karel Sabina, the novel Ztracený život by Gustav Pfleger-Moravský, whose protagonist Jaromír Olšovský was inspired by life of a revolutionary Josef Václav Frič, and a short story Naši předchůdci by Josef Václav Frič, which narrates life of a poet Josef Jaroslav Kalina. The dissertation compares the fiction with vocational monograps and biographical studies and tries to find out which parts of writers' lifes were mentioned in these novels, how were facts interpreted and which parts of writers' lifes were in novels left out. It also focus on main themes connected with characters and how are these characters constructed.
